Amazon calculated that a page load slowdown of just 1 second could cost it $1.6 billion in sales each year. Google has calculated that by slowing its search results by just four tenths of a second they could lose 8 million searches per day—meaning they’d serve up many millions fewer online adverts.
Google Plus just announced that they are opening up the Google Plus social networking service to everyone! It’s been 90 days since the beta launch. Although it felt like a long time, 90 days isn’t that bad and just long enough where Google is making the right choice to make it available to everyone now.
